We are Oz Hockey Media. A small independent sports media organisation focused on ice hockey within Australia. We were born out of the need for a platform for independent media voices in Australian ice hockey to flourish.
Within Australia, ice hockey has had a long and storied history. It was first played here over one hundred (100) years ago. Yet the sport has always struggled to break through to the sporting mainstream in Australia. It is a challenge Oz Hockey Media is taking up. We aim to provide a platform where the sport across all levels can get independent exposure. To capture the amazing stories ice hockey has to offer.

To provide a platform where ice hockey in Australia across all levels can get independent exposure, capturing the amazing stories ice hockey has to offer. To promote Australia ice hockey through active, fun and passionate engagement with the hockey community.
Vision
Oz Hockey Media will play a role in growing the sport of ice hockey in Australia, to bring ice hockey into the Australian sporting mainstream, while encouraging others to do the same.
History About Us
Oz Hockey Media was founded in 2023 as Hockey Hype Australia.
During mid 2023, we had the idea for a one stop shop for all things ice hockey. We set out create something unique and special.
On 18 September 2023, the official Hockey Hype Australia website launched, coinciding with members of the platform receiving media accreditation for the NHL Global Series at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia. That week, we covered the first NHL games played on Australian soil.
We continued to grow our coverage between 2023 and 2025. We have covered multiple Australian Women’s Ice Hockey League (AWIHL) and Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) seasons.
On 24 March 2025, Hockey Hype Australia officially announced its rebranding as Oz Hockey media (OHM).
It’s an exciting time to be involved in the sport of ice hockey in Australia, and here at Oz Hockey media, we will bring you the best and most comprehensive coverage the country has seen.
