Tale of the tape – Adrenaline @ Thunder

This weekend, tale of the tape focuses on the improving Adelaide Adrenaline making their way across the nullabor to take on the high-flying Perth Thunder in a double-header at the Perth Ice Arena, and because I’ve been the slackest contributor around here I’ve decided to pull a finger out and have a look at how they match up.

Overall in 2025

Recent history

Since both teams rejoined the league in 2023, they have clashed 5 times – with Perth taking the chocolates in 4 of those games (one in OT), and the Adrenaline picking up a 3-1 win in Adelaide last year on the back of a 37 save performance by Ryan Toth.

Longer history

The Thunder have collected a larger share of points against the Adrenaline than any other opponent since 2013, with a points percentage of 0.747 against the Croweaters. In that period, the highest scorers for Perth have been Ben Breault, Jordy Kyros and now-GM Andrew Cox. On the Adrenaline side, the less-uplifting fact is that none of their top 3 scorers will be suiting up this weekend.

Period by period

While Perth have been strong throughout games so far in 2025, in particular finishing games with a +0.6 goal third period, the Adrenaline tend to start well, then things get out of hand, fast conceding 1.7 goals per period more than they score.
