Hockey Hype Australia was born out of a need for a media platform which is directly focused on the sport of ice hockey within Australia.
Ice hockey has a storied history within Australia, being played here for over 100 hundred years, yet breaking through sports mainstream has always been a challenge. This is where Hockey Hype hopes to provide a platform where the sport across all levels can get independent exposure, capturing the amazing stories ice hockey has to offer.
During mid 2023 Gordon Goodenough and Andrew Macdougall had the idea for a one stop shop for all things ice hockey, with history between the two, and both having built online ice hockey media before – Gordon (Hockey Embassy) and Andrew (On the Fly Hockey), together they set out create something unique and special.
On September 18, 2023 the official Hockey Hype Australia website launched, coinciding with both Gordon and Andrew receiving media accreditation for the NHL Global Series at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia that week..
