Sydney Sirens forward Ava Calabria has put pen to paper joining NCAA Division III Salem State Vikings in a recent announcement by the Sydney club.
The 21-year-old has had an impactful season with the Sirens, playing all 16 games and putting up five points (two goals, three assists) in a strong two-way game.
Completing her sixth Australian Women’s Ice Hockey League (AWIHL) season, it’s reward for a player who is known as a relentless hard worker both on and off the ice.
A representative of the Australian U18 and senior national women’s team, Salem State Vikings are getting a strong skater who has a great turn of speed both on the offensive and defensive ends.
Futhermore, Calabria reads the game well, has great positional awareness across the ice and a will be a great addition to the Vikings roster.
The three-time Joan McKowen Memorial Trophy winner and World Junior Championships Division I B Qualification tournament gold medal winner, will now test the waters in the US collegiate system for the very first time, off the back of a career season in the AWIHL.
